A customer at Caseys in Tahlequah around 8am this morning stated he accidently hit the gas when he meant to hit the brakes.
Some complaints have sparked a city wide debate over what is art and what is graffiti. The wall has been painted for fifteen years and now the city has given notice to cover the wall or face fines and penalties. Some claim the wall art has been tagged several times.
Some are bothered by tags, others think the whole wall is distasteful. I don't have a dog in this fight but will follow its progress with great interest. It seems to settle this debate the city will have to 1. Define Art. 2. Define personal and business freedom. Who will decide what art looks good and what is unacceptable?
It should be noted this is not the only painted wall in Tahlequah. It is the only one the city has found in violation of city code. SO FAR.
Here is one possible way to cover the wall. Tahlequah could start its very own gum wall.
